Inflatable waterpark business Waterworld is being marketed for sale by Paul Buer from ABC Business Sales.
The business, which has operated for the last three summers, a number of centres including Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Queenstown has this past 2019/20 season increased capacity from 80-people to 120 people per hour.
“Are you ready to shift into business ownership before the summer rush and set yourself up for 2021?” asks Buer, who is offering the Auckland waterpark business as a licensed turnkey operation.
“Everything required to run the waterpark including consents will be part of the opportunity. Waterworld will provide full training in the business and ongoing support including access to their social media and email database. The vendor will maintain operations of Waterworld outside of Auckland, further increasing the marketing reach of the brand.”

A brand-new Waterpark with a 120-person capacity is currently being designed and Waterworld is scheduled to operate in Auckland with significantly more event days for the 2020/2021 season. The season runs December to February, including the school holidays and Americas Cup dates, and again over Easter. The total turnover of last season was $435,630, with net profit of 43 percent, and averaging around 300 customers per day of trading.
Buer says that while COVID-19 has had a small impact on the business in the year to 31 March 2020, the company expects demand will be greater this summer.
“With the borders closed, more Kiwis will be looking for local attractions, plus the Americans Cup will be bringing more visitors into Auckland.”
He adds that the business has relationships with the Auckland Council events team and has extremely easy method to run events without having to apply for resource consents. The new owner would ideally have experience in events management, water sports and safety or other complementary skills.
“This is an exciting business opportunity to run over a short summer period each year. There are many opportunities for the owners to expand this business in the near future.
“There are very few businesses that operate for just a few months of the year and still make this level of profitability. I think the potential to work on the beach over summer and take international holidays during the off-season will appeal to a lot of Kiwis reflecting on their post-Covid plans” says Paul Buer from ABC Business Sales.
