Limeburners Bay, a new townhouse community underway on a coastal block at Hobsonville Point, honours the area’s history as a thriving clay and brickworks.
Many of its modern two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom residences utilise brick as part of their exterior and the history of the area will be acknowledged in the choice of names for its roads and precincts.
Managing director of Aedifice Property Group, Kieran Doe, says: “We’re excited to be bringing these more affordable, quality townhouses to the market on what is a large site on the edge of the Waitemata Harbour which has some significant history.”
Several pottery works produced items such as bricks, piping, and garden ornaments in the bay in the late 1800s, continuing until the 1920s. A prominent one owned by Rice Owen Clark went on to produce well-known Crown Lynn ceramics after it was moved to New Lynn in 1925.

Kieran says: “We’re going to maximise the sense of community in this location and make the most of its views out to the water and Hobsonville Marina.”
Civil works are already underway onsite and the first release will offer a limited number of residences designed by BDG Architects. These homes are available to buy off the plans now and are scheduled to be completed in quarter two of 2025.
When development of this seven-hectare waterfront site is completed, it will consist of 376 townhouses. A heritage home onsite will become this neighbourhood’s local café, complete with playground for children. Another children’s playground with barbecue facilities will sit near the waterfront, where a coastal walkway will also be built.
“These features, a neighbourhood dog wash area and pocket parks dotted through Limeburners Bay will all help foster a strong sense of community.”
The two- to four-bedroom townhouses will be priced from $840,000 to $1.14 million.
Kieran envisages they’ll have broad appeal, particularly with first and second-home buyers and investors.
They’ll be built of a combination of BGC weatherboard and brick, and each will have one off-street carpark. Every home will have a fenced rear courtyard and some will have two courtyards, with the optional extra of a retractable electric awning for shelter and shade. Open-plan kitchen-living-dining spaces will anchor the homes.
The site steps down towards the coast to maximise connection to the water and the Hobsonville Marina beyond. A tower has been erected onside so potential buyers can envisage their outlook.
Owners of these freehold residences won’t pay body corporate levies but will pay the lower fees of a residents’ society to maintain common areas.
This address is about four minutes’ walk to Scott Point School (Years 1-8) and within walking distance of Hobsonville Point Primary School and Hobsonville Point Secondary School. It is only a couple of minutes’ drive to two supermarkets and six minutes’ drive to Catalina Bay’s eateries, brewery, farmers market and ferry service.
