When owners Judy and Tony purchased their stunning waterfront site in Tindalls Beach 36 years ago, the area was just a small seaside settlement – quite unlike the bustling urban area it is today.

Then a young couple, they engaged John D’Anvers – a popular architect at the time – to come up with a design that provided sufficient space for their growing family, and Judy says she and Tony were delighted with the result.

“We didn’t want a super modern 1980s house, instead preferring something traditional – that wouldn’t date, and that’s exactly what we got.”

Situated to take full advantage of glorious sea views to the peninsula, 26 The Crescent was constructed from cedar, brick and tile with an expansive floor plan that maximises space for family life and entertaining.

26 The Crescent has a current CV of $3.2 million and is on the market for sale by way of auction on October 19.

The kitchen lies at the heart of the lower level, surrounded by a casual dining and living area at one end and a formal dining room and separate lounge at the other. There’s also a bedroom, bathroom, laundry and a combined workshop and drive-through garage with plenty of room for cars and boats.

Upstairs are four bedrooms including the magnificent master suite which has its own ensuite and deck, plus a study and family bathroom. The home’s décor is light and airy, befitting its seaside location.

The kitchen and downstairs bathroom were updated a few years ago and there’s scope to update other parts of the house, at once, or gradually.

The section has been cleverly landscaped, with well-established, easy-care plantings, and Judy says the pool was very popular with her children and their friends, while Tindalls Bay and Manly beaches are nearby for swimming and water sports.

“It was a wonderful place for them to grow up!”

Around 13 years ago an opportunity to buy the waterfront property at 24 The Crescent, next door, arose and Judy and Tony decided to do so.

24 The Crescent has a current CV of $2.2m and, according to OneRoof data last changed hands in 2010 for $885,000. It is on the market for sale by way of auction on October 19.

The former bach is much simpler than their own house and was tenanted for some time, until recently. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a tidy kitchen and a double carport as well as extensive decking and it is in a moderate condition.

Listing agent Simon Wilde, of Bayleys, says that the two properties are being auctioned together because it represents a great chance for an astute investor to secure a significant piece of waterfront real estate.

“They could potentially live in number 26 and rent out number 24, as the current owners have done, or maybe develop the section at 24, building a new home for guests or extended family. Someone might even choose to remove both of the existing homes and build a spectacular mansion, on what is pretty much half an acre, to take full advantage of the outstanding views.

“There are just so many exciting possibilities and selling two adjacent properties together like this has worked well for us in the past.”

Wilde adds that if the properties fail to sell as a pair, they will be auctioned separately.
