Retail leasing expert James Petherick has joined the Colliers Retail team as a Large Format Retail Broker, a result of the sector’s continued growth and the expansion of the Colliers’ retail service offering.
Petherick joins Colliers having previously worked for Kiwi Property where he looked after the leasing of The Plaza in Palmerston North and Northlands Shopping Centre in Christchurch and completed a number of key leasing deals.
With six years’ experience in the industry, which includes working on the Galleria expansion at Sylvia Park in Auckland, Petherick has proven himself as a diligent and solution-focused property professional and is looking forward to making his mark with Colliers.
“I have worked across a range of areas in the property industry, including development, commercial, facilities management, retail, and leasing and am thrilled to have the opportunity to draw on that experience in my role at Colliers,” Petherick says.

Petherick has a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Property degree from the University of Auckland and was named Property Student of the Year in 2017.
Based in the Auckland CBD Colliers office, his arrival comes at an exciting time for the retail service offering at Colliers following the recent merger of the Real Estate Management Services and Retail Leasing businesses.
These service lines were combined to ensure Colliers can grow with scale, while delivering sector specialisation to expand our client relationships, leverage our expertise, and remain at the forefront of the industry.
