Following a triumphant first release in 2021, Ponsonby native and developer, Greer Stephens, of the Oslo Group, has released the final four boutique apartments of his most recent project, The Blake.

Informed by its popular urban locale, The Blake’s design has been undertaken with one thing in mind – delivering refined apartments for an ever more sophisticated market.

With owners commencing residency from the start of July, the developer says he has saved the best for last, including the penthouse and sub-penthouse.

Growing up on construction sites in the area, with his family undertaking hundreds of villa renovations and residential construction in the 1970s and 1980s, Stephens brings a long-held passion for design and construction to the project.

“I work very collaboratively with my architect on every aspect of the project, drawing inspiration from international design,” he says.

“My projects tend to be products of an overriding influence of Brutalist, geometric and mid-century design, but they allow people to have the opportunity to provide their own aesthetic and experience.”

Having completed the equally elegant Apex Apartments on nearby Prosford Street in 2005, he anticipates the same level of success and popularity amongst residents of The Blake.

Exemplified by liberal spaces and a design the developer says has been exacted and tailored to their market of downsizers, The Blake promises enhanced living at its best. Acutely aware of his market, Stephens took the utmost care in the design to produce a worthy sanctuary for residents.

“We focused on the master bedrooms, ensuites and walk-in robes. Bedrooms are on opposite sides of the living rooms. The apartments are designed to provide a haven; empty-nesters spend more time in their residence so it had to be a total retreat.”

Continuing a successful relationship with architect Paul Brown of PB&A, the Oslo Group has produced a striking landmark on the Ponsonby landscape, presented in pre-cast concrete panels, an abundance of glass and a powder-coated seamed system.

“Drawing on the industrial heritage of Ponsonby, using strong materials honestly, is at the heart of The Blake’s architecture,” explains Brown.

The interior is equally striking, illustrating Stephen’s dexterity in design and showcased at The Blake’s sales suite on 291 Ponsonby Road – presenting all the design choices for prospective residents.

With its location tucked off the arterial road, Stephens says, “It’s what I love most about the site, it’s so woven into the urban fabric, but you’re 20 metres from Jervois Road, a two-minute walk to Three Lamps, there’s so much amenity, but with that slight removal from the main road.”

Paula Halford of Bayleys, who is marketing the apartments, says, “The final release of The Blake apartments include one- and two-bedroom options, each featuring modern and luxurious finishes.

“The Blake is a fantastic option for those looking for high-end living in one of Auckland’s most sought after neighbourhoods.

“With Greer’s expertise and attention to detail, every aspect of the building has been carefully considered and designed to the highest standards.”

One-bedroom apartment is priced from $990,000 including carpark; two bedrooms from $2,200,000 including carpark; sub-penthouse and penthouse apartments’ pricing available on request.
