An apartment development which took some of its design inspiration from the traditional English-style mansions of Remuera will offer a number of high-end luxury apartments designed to satisfy a very specific and discerning market.

Brought together by veteran developer Richard Kroon, who is also known for his Pinnacle apartment block in Remuera, the new venture at 4 Victoria Avenue in Remuera, Auckland is nestled into a large, north-facing site with sea and city views from every level.

Barfoot & Thompson agent Julie Fitzpatrick, who is marketing the development along with colleague Kathy Bower, describes them as unique in their style and grandeur.

“These magnificent homes will have it all: location, outlook, design flair and pedigree,” she says.

Named Victoria Lane and due for completion by Christmas next year, the development features a collection of 23 exclusive residences designed for those seeking a luxurious new lifestyle in Auckland’s most elegant suburb.

It’s envisaged buyers will be downsizing from stately Remuera homes and looking for something that is still large and luxurious.

“We wanted to emulate the sort of block you’d find in London, so this has a English colonial vibe,” Kroon says.

Victoria Lane apartments range in size from 100 square metres to 500 square metres, and range in price from $2.2 million to $17m. There are also balconies, up to three carparks per apartment (set up for electric vehicles) and the best in fixtures and fittings.

Designed by Leuschke Group architects in conjunction with James Doole Design, it comprises two buildings which connect both at basement level and above a porte couchere.

In a well-executed model of old meets new, the eastern building has a light, modern exterior of glass and bronze fins, while the western building evokes images of masonry buildings from the early 20th century.

That the design has struck a chord with its target market is evidenced by the fact that all the north-western side has sold.

“Those apartments have virtually all been sold to people who are from Remuera, most of them currently living no more than a kilometre away,” Kroon says.

The intention is to create the atmosphere of an extended stay at a luxury boutique hotel with the five-star amenities rarely found in private homes.

The lobby, where residents and their guests are welcomed by a concierge, has a refreshment bar. There is a luxury vehicle and driver for residents, a separate overnight suite for their guests, and a yoga and exercise room.

The apartments feature stone fireplaces, Miele kitchen appliances including induction cooktops, stone benchtops and splashbacks, aged brass extractor hood covers, and butler’s pantries in some floorplans.

The elegant tiled bathrooms have heated floors, stone vanity tops, fluted glass shower doors, combination slide and rain-head showers, and baths in some units.

Chevron Oak flooring in kitchen and dining areas, carpet in all bedrooms and dressing rooms and oak wardrobes for master bedrooms are other inclusions.
