A four-bedroom comfurtable family home in Freeman’s Bay gets pawsitive feedback from the resident pooch.
Family spoodle Sugar is selling her humans' beautifully renovated home in Auckland central, with a winning pup-friendly pitch.
“It's a pretty unique place this. It's licked so many boxes for me. But it's time to move on,” Sugar says.
The house owner, who didn’t want to be named, says unfortunately, the soon-to-be famous pooch won't be at home during house viewings to meet all the visitors.

She (the owner, this time) says humans relate more to dogs and cats so decided to market the four-bedroom family house from Sugar’s perspective for fun.
“I wanted to make it more rewarding for people to read. We also wanted to retain our privacy and it allowed us to communicate value without us being in that scene.”
Kellands Real Estate agents Martin Dobson and Caroline Daniel who are marketing the Freemans Bay property are stoked to have Sugar on board.
The vendors came up with the idea, which Dobson is excited about.
“It’s refreshing to have something different. I think it’s a lovely story and shows what the house is all about, doing it from the third party like that is really cool,” he says.

Architect Richard Priest worked on renovation of the 450sq m house for over a decade as the creative owners took a slow and steady approach to the project.
Before the major reno of the property, the house was sold for $724,000 in 1996 and Auckland Council record show it now has a CV of $5.2m.
The design is described as “Soho meets New York” with high studs and a lot of wooden detailing on ceiling, beams, flooring and furniture.
“It’s like house for a giant and I’m really little compared to the house. It has ex-pats’ sensibility and generosity,” the owner says.

Sugar, while noting the number of spots for a lie down on the sofa, is particularly fond of the capacity the house has for cooking, and parties.
“Huge commercial oven – amazing what comes out of there,” she pants. “Meals for 30 at Christmas. The house loves a party and so do I. People get so clumsy with their sausage rolls.”
The second floor has house office and a lounge with a massive balcony stretching across the perimeter, which provides top views of Auckland City.
Sugar describes it as: “You wake up to the big orange thing in the sky. The bat signal for walkies. Actually, the upstairs is where I spend most evenings. Away from the kids and cats, just the pretty lit city.”
The spacious house with great fenced outdoors with a pizza oven and a salt pool is the perfect place for children to grow up.
“It’s the place to raise children and their friends. It’s the home they all want to be in,” the human says.
The property is located on the 703sq m freehold section with a primary and intermediate schools just around the block. It’s also a short walk to bars and cafes in Ponsonby as well as Victoria Park and Wynyard Quarter waterfront.
