Seven figures might not go as far as it used to, but spin that globe and you can still live large like a millionaire of old.

Prime real estate in some of the world’s most exotic corners can be snapped up for about $1.47 million — the equivalent of US$1 million.

Knight Frank’s latest Wealth Report shows that amount would buy just 16sq m in Monaco, 31sq m in New York and London, 52sq m in Sydney and 97sq m in Melbourne.

It could also get you 68sqm of prime waterfront property in New Zealand's most expensive suburb, Herne Bay, in Auckland.

But how far would $1.47 million travel in the Bahamas, rural France and the US?
