Colliers achieved an impressive clean sweep of the Small, Medium, and Large Commercial & Industrial Office of the Year awards at the 2023 REINZ Awards for Excellence this week.

The Colliers North Shore team were named Small Commercial & Industrial Office of the Year for the fifth time in six years, while Highbrook received the Medium Commercial & Industrial Office of the Year award for the 10th time in the past 11 years.

The Auckland Central office, which produced market-leading transactions including major lease deals to Beca and Spark in Auckland as well as the sale of Northlands Mall in Christchurch during the judging period, claimed the Large Commercial & Industrial Office of the Year award.

As well as the office awards, there was also individual success as North Shore Directors Shoneet Chand and Matt Prentice jointly won the Overall Commercial & Industrial Salesperson of the Year award, an award for salespeople that work in a partnership, while Christchurch Director Sam Staite won the Individual Commercial & Industrial Salesperson of the Year crown.

Marius Ogg, an Investment Sales Broker in the Colliers Christchurch office, was named Commercial & Industrial Salesperson of the Year – Rising Star.

Colliers New Zealand CEO Gareth Fraser says winning all six available Commercial & Industrial awards is a magnificent achievement that highlights the organisation’s commitment to high performance.

“We are proud of the efforts of our team members during the past year who have shown tremendous dedication to providing the best possible service to our clients while always putting them first,” Fraser says.

“We have an outstanding team at Colliers who constantly strive to meet lofty standards, and we appreciate the recognition from REINZ.”

Staite won the Individual Commercial & Industrial Salesperson of the Year award, while Colliers Director of Capital Markets and Site Sales Josh Coburn was also a finalist.

“It’s a great privilege to win this award and I am incredibly proud of my achievements,” Staite says.

“I am grateful to be able to work with an outstanding group of clients who I have built strong relationships with across a number of years.”

Ogg, who has a background in property valuation before moving into brokerage, beat a strong field of contenders that included Highbrook-based Industrial Sales Broker Tom Peterson to claim the Commercial & Industrial Salesperson of the Year – Rising Star award, which has recently been won by Colliers Brokers David Burley (2018) and Calum Ironside (2021).

“Very privileged to have received this award, particularly amongst such a high calibre of finalists,” Ogg says.

Prentice and Chand are firmly established as a dominant force in the wider Auckland commercial property market.

Their category was a competitive one and included Colliers Director of Office Leasing Sam Gallaugher who was also a finalist.

“We are proud of our collective achievements and remain grateful that our clients continue to place their trust in us to provide industry-leading advice to assist them with their property decisions,” Prentice says.

“Our motivation remains as strong as ever to put in the work to achieve the best possible results.”

The 2023 REINZ Awards for Excellence were held at the Cordis and 45 awards were handed out to different sectors of the real estate industry.
