Conjure an image of what ‘luxury’ means then multiply that by at least 10 and you’ve got Elysian.

Developed by HR Group and designed by award-winning Crosson Architects and renowned interior designer Sarah Foote, Elysian promises to be an incomparable statement building in one of Auckland’s oldest and most prestigious character suburbs: Parnell.

This stunning building at 25 Balfour Road will be perched atop an elevated, sun-drenched site, overlooking its muse: the sparkling Waitematā Harbour.

“Jerome Buckwell from Crosson Architects has taken inspiration from the nearby shoreline and incorporated its ebbs and flows into the exterior of the building,” says developer Hannah Williamson.

“The scalloped façade speaks to the curved nature of the shoreline and in turn creates a spectacular building that is itself a work of art.”

Inside, 16 immaculately appointed two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments and penthouses sprinkled across five levels are unlike any other on Auckland’s luxury market.

Elysian was granted resource consent earlier in 2023 and Kalmar Construction has been appointed the primary contractor. Pricing starts from $2.99 million for a two-bedroom apartment, with three- and four-bedroom apartments and two penthouses (with customisable options) also available.

Homes start from 150sqm, plus each comes with an expansive balcony where designer living effortlessly spills outside. High studs, floor-to-ceiling joinery, and frameless glass balustrades create an expansive feeling of connection to the outdoors and the beautiful vista beyond.

The grand foyer entrance, complete with its Max Gimblett-commissioned artwork, creates a feeling of grandiose indulgence from the moment you step inside. A spa, sauna, and treatment room offer luxury hotel living at its best, at home. Even the basement has been designed like a car showroom.

“Every apartment comes with two side-by-side car parks – four if you have a penthouse,” says Williamson.

“The car parks are extra-wide so if you swing open the door of your Maserati or Ferrari, there’s no risk of getting a ding. The garage features lacquered concrete flooring and beautiful circular LED lighting – it’s more than a place to keep cars; it’s a showroom for people to display their toys.”

HR Group has thought of everything when it comes to the fit out of each apartment, even allowing for a level of customisation where possible.

“These homes have been designed to work in with how their owners live, not the other way around,” Williamson says.

“For example, we understand that many people view their collections of handbags, scarves and belts as works of art, so we have display options that will enable residents to showcase these designer pieces too.”

HR Group head of sales Ben Meiring, who is marketing Elysian, says there isn’t another comparable development on the market.

"We work directly with their clients to customise apartments that fit them perfectly," he said, adding that customer enquiry was driven by the opportunity for customisation, as well as the excellent site location.

“I’ve been working in the off-plan industry for a long time, and I haven’t come across a site that provides so much scope for the architects. The Crosson team has excelled with their design, maximising the views and sunshine which are available because of the Gladstone Reserve on the north boundary.

"It’s not just arresting views to the north, though, with the sparkling lights of downtown to the west lighting up for nighttime views as well.”

“Most development sites are located on busy main roads, but here you can sit in the villa and listen to the birds in the trees as you observe the workings of the Waitematā harbour. Elysian is in a quiet, tree-lined street, and it truly does feel like paradise.”
