Having always lived with great views, 87-year-old Patricia will even have a sea view from the retirement village she’s going to move into.

She says: “Yes, my apartment there has quite a nice view but it’s simply not a patch on the incredible sea view I get from this house. You get absolutely glorious views from here.”

Patricia was aged 75 when she moved from Epsom to Point Chevalier 12 years ago, where two of her children live. Her daughter helped her find this delightful home on prestigious Harbour View Road.

“There is a house between me and the water which I look right out over the top of. Yachting is in the family as our children sailed, from P-class to Starling and so on.

“The Point Chevalier Yacht Club is close by and it’s really enjoyable watching the young ones out there sailing. I love watching windsurfers and kite boarders and people on foil boards. My, they simply fly across the water and are fascinating to watch.

“The sunsets here are to die for and I look out to the sparkling lights of Te Atatu Peninsula at night.”

This address is less than 200 metres from Harbour View Reserve, which has access to Pt Chev beach. You can park a car in front of Number 22’s internal-access garage. There is code-controlled gated pedestrian entry into its front walled courtyard.

Patricia, who was widowed when she purchased here, says: “That was another good thing about buying here; you feel very safe as a woman on her own.”

Patricia understands the 1930s home has been through a substantial extension but still it boasts some original character features. “I love the lovely native wood floors, the bay window and the leadlights.”

Patricia used to use one of the four bedrooms as her office, enjoying its French doors opening out to the private courtyard and loves being able to relax quietly in the cozy second living area. Her favourite room is the open-plan kitchen-living-dining room flowing out to an expansive north-west facing deck which angles around the house.

“It’s just glorious. The sun pours in and you can open it up wide to the deck on two sides to soak up the substantial views.”

Its spaciousness has allowed her to host gatherings and reunions here. “Its polished concrete floors have underfloor heating but I’ve never turned that on in my 12 years here.”

She’s very fond of her master suite with front balcony, walk-through wardrobing and ensuite which also has a view to the harbour.

The property’s fully fenced backyard combines lawn and landscaped garden.

“This suburb is very friendly. Up until recently I used to walk to Pt Chev Beach Café for a coffee every morning and I’d always see someone I knew to talk to.”

Patricia is moving nearby to Selwyn Village due to her age.

Ray White listing agent Jo de Beer says: “This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own on prestigious Harbour View Road with its prime location and just an easy walk to Pt Chevalier Beach, Coyle Park, cafes and primary school.”
